    • Should we bring our own equipment? All rods, gear, bait, and tackle are provided, but we encourage bringing your own rod if you have one.

    • Do I need a fishing license? Anglers over 16 must have a valid fishing license from SCDNR. We can provide instructions on how to purchase a license upon booking.

    • What target species can we expect to catch? Depending on the season and location, we can target speckled seatrout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, and black drum.

    • Can parents join the lesson? Our kids fishing lessons are designed as drop-off sessions. We offer Family Fishing Lessons and Mommy & Me Lessons if you are interested in learning the ropes.

    • How many hours should I book for a beginner? A 2-hour session is typically the ideal window to cover rigging, casting mechanics, and actual fishing time.

    • What is your weather policy? We will fish in rain, but NOT lightning or high winds. If weather will be unsafe or affect the experience, we will work with you to reschedule.

    • Where do we meet for these sessions? We meet at public land-based parks, docks, and piers across Charleston, prioritizing safe, accessible, and easy fishing spots. We can also meet at your favorite fishing hole if preferred.

    • What should we bring? Pack old sneakers or water shoes that can get muddy, sun protection (i.e., hats, sunscreen, breathable layers), snacks, and water.

    • Is gear provided for both of us? Yes, we provide all rods, gear, bait, and tackle. If you have your own rods, we encourage bringing them if you’d like.

    • Can fathers, grandpas, or other caregivers join instead? While titled Mommy & Me, any primary caregiver and child duo is warmly welcomed to join the fun.
