Fishin’ for the people!
Fishin’ Club is our accessible, approachable, and affordable year-round fishing & coastal ecology program.
Accessible: We provide all rods, gear, bait, & tackle - so you can just drop-by and drop-a-line.
Approachable: We offer it to various age ranges, welcome all experience levels, and adapt to any abilities.
Affordable: It is always $15 per hour, or less. We also offer family rates and senior discounts.
Year-round: We meet regularly across all four seasons, providing plenty of opportunities to keep you fishing all year-long.
Currently, we offer Fishin’ Club as a flexible, convenient, and reliable after-school program for grades K - 8th.
Flexible: You can book one session at a time. No months-long commitments or hectic schedules.
Convenient: Drop the kiddos off and we handle all the rest. No gear, uniforms, or extra-curricular demands.
Reliable: We provide hands-on activities and opportunities to learn about the coast - rain or shine.

What is Fishin’ Club? A year-round, recurring, and flexible program designed for anyone (and everyone!) to come fish, crab, explore, learn, and have some fun outdoors.
What is provided? All rods, gear, bait, and tackle for fishin’ and crabbin’, as well as patient and thorough guidance and instruction.
When does Fishin’ Club meet? FC is always offered during the week for 2-hour sessions, though days and times are guided by the seasons. For fishing on the weekend, check out our seasonal events or reserve a private lesson.
How do we sign-up? Check out our calendar on our upcoming events page to book any time that works for you.
Where does Fishin’ Club meet? We meet at various public parks, piers, and docks across Charleston and we always fish where it is safe and accessible by foot. Location is noted for each FC event.
What to bring? Water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray. Have your own rod? Bring it (but you don’t have to)!
What to wear? Sun protection (i.e., hat, sunglasses, pfg), breathable layers, marsh/hook-safe shoes (i.e., close-toed, chacos, natives, sneaks). Dress for the season and the weather!
What is the weather policy? We will fish in light rain - just bring a raincoat and wear rain boots. If there is lightning or high winds - we can meet at a designated shelter. If we have to cancel for dangerous conditions, we will work with you to reschedule or we will fully refund you.
What is the cancellation policy? We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Rescheduling is always available.

We offer private, customized one-on-one and small group fishing lessons with flexible instruction geared towards absolute beginners or seasoned anglers.
What lessons can include:
Learning fishing fundamentals like knot tying, rigging, and baiting
Practicing fishing techniques like casting and retrieving
Learning seasonal fishing practices like targeting redfish or sea trout
Reviewing angler safety, responsibilities, and local SCDNR regulations
Mini science lessons on marsh ecology, animal biology, and saltwater species identification
Practice and mastery of techniques like bait presentation, casting accuracy, and species-specific rigs, lures, and bait.
Deep dives into reading the tide, paying attention to the seasons, and adapting technique to fish behavior.
Patient, confidence-building instruction tailored precisely to your current skill level and interests.

Where do private fishing lessons take place? We meet at public land-based fishing spots across Charleston parks, piers, and docks.
Should we bring our own equipment? All rods, gear, bait, and tackle are provided, but we encourage bringing your own rod if you have one.
Do I need a fishing license? Anglers over 16 must have a valid fishing license from SCDNR. We can provide instructions on how to purchase a license upon booking.
What target species can we expect to catch? Depending on the season and location, we can target speckled seatrout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, and black drum.
Can parents join the lesson? Our kids fishing lessons are designed as drop-off sessions. We offer Family Fishing Lessons and Mommy & Me Lessons if you are interested in learning the ropes.
How many hours should I book for a beginner? A 2-hour session is typically the ideal window to cover rigging, casting mechanics, and actual fishing time.
What is your weather policy? We will fish in rain, but NOT lightning or high winds. If weather will be unsafe or affect the experience, we will work with you to reschedule.

Our Mommy & Me fishing lessons are designed to be super fun, super exciting, and super easy. We provide all the rods, gear, bait, tackle, and patience - so you and your kiddo(s) can focus on making super special memories.
Whether you are beginners looking for a new weekend activity, intermediate and ready to advance your techniques, or seasoned pros excited for new fishing holes, tips, and tricks - our lessons are completely adaptable for any ages, experience levels, abilities, and interests.

Our typical rate starts at $50 per hour with a 2-hour minimum suggested for booking. Rates are adjusted for group size, ages, experience levels, and goals. One mama (or mentor) per three youngin’s. Typical lessons are suitable for up to 6 anglers, but special requests can be made by dropping us a line using our quick inquiry form below.

What activities do we do during Mommy & Me? Typical lessons include exploring in the marsh, an intro to fishing fundamentals, an overview of gear and tackle, fishing, crabbing, and fun!
Do both mother and child actively participate? Yes! The entire session is built around cooperative teamwork, helping you explore and learn alongside your child.
Where do we meet for these sessions? We meet at public land-based parks, docks, and piers across Charleston, prioritizing safe, accessible, and easy fishing spots. We can also meet at your favorite fishing hole if preferred.
What should we bring? Pack old sneakers or water shoes that can get muddy, sun protection (i.e., hats, sunscreen, breathable layers), snacks, and water.
Is gear provided for both of us? Yes, we provide all rods, gear, bait, and tackle. If you have your own rods, we encourage bringing them if you’d like.
Can fathers, grandpas, or other caregivers join instead? While titled Mommy & Me, any primary caregiver and child duo is warmly welcomed to join the fun.
How long is each session? We suggest booking two hours to ensure enough time for exploring, educating, and fishing.
