  • Fishing Camps are offered through Mt. Pleasant Rec Dept. The first two days of course instruction are at the Darby Building (302 Pitt St), followed by two days of fishing at Mt. Pleasant Pier (71 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd).

  • Group, One-on-One, and Mommy and Me Classes are offered year-round. Class time (hours) and duration (days or weeks) are completely flexible and dependent upon your schedule and needs. It is preferred that all Classes last at least two hours.

  • Fishing Classes can take place at any public fishing pier (Mt. Pleasant Pier, Shem Creek, Folly Dock) or at any safe private water access point (private pond, dock, or marsh access). You may select a location when you Book.

  • We provide all necessary fishing gear, tackle, and bait! Littles may bring their own rods if they would like.

  • We ask that all littles dress appropriately for the weather, wear sunscreen and bug spray, and bring water and a snack if needed.

  • Please dress appropriately for the weather and conditions. We recommend light, breathable clothing, sun protection (i.e., hat, sunglasses, long-sleeves), and durable water shoes (e.g., Chacos, Crocs, rainboots). It is often cooler on the water so bring layers in cooler temps.

  • We fish rain or shine! If weather strikes during a Fishing Camp, campers will be taken to a covered shelter for safety. If weather strikes before a Fishing Class, you will be given the option for a rain-check.

  • You only need a Fishing License if you are over the age of 16.

For Mommy and Me classes, the adult must have a South Carolina Recreational Saltwater Fishing License. You may purchase a License online with SCDNR.

  • We always practice catch-and-release fishing so that we can protect our native species for the future generations of anglers!

  • While we do everything we can to teach littles how to catch fish, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that every little will catch a fish every time.

We have put in a lot of time, knowledge, and experience into teaching fishing basics and techniques, but inevitably there are some things beyond our control!

  • Inshore saltwater fishing on a pier (Mt. Pleasant Pier, Shem Creek Pier, Folly Dock) or in walking-accessible tidal creeks.

  • Although fish activity is dependent on the season, tides, and weather, there is a variety of inshore saltwater fish that we may catch: redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheepshead, spadefish, black drum, bluefish, pinfish, pigfish, puffers, the occasional stingray, and more!

  • Our Camps and Classes are geared towards making fishing as easy and simple as possible for all ages. We use spincast rods (because they are the easiest to learn on) and we also have spinner rods available. We use various rigs, lures, jigs, and bait so that all anglers feel comfortable learning and mastering a variety of techniques.
